Kyrie Irving’s time with the Brooklyn Nets came to an end on Sunday as the guard was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. It brought an end to what had been a controversy-ridden tenure, and the Nets, in some ways, might just be happy that it is finally over.

While the immediate reaction was wondering how well Kyrie would fit alongside Luka Doncic, the attention soon shifted to Kevin Durant. He had, of course, requested a trade before the season, and with the Nets getting a solid but unspectacular haul in return for Irving, many wondered if Durant would want out.

The Phoenix Suns were one of the teams heavily linked with KD after that trade request, and a report soon came out that they are expected to pursue him if he’s available. Mike James, who was teammates with Durant in 2021 and is a good friend of his, had a hilarious reaction to that report.

“S*** i think everybody would. Monaco gon offer him a yacht”

James plays for AS Monaco Basket these days, and the French team would give Durant a yacht and whatever else he would want to sign with them! As he says, everyone would be interested in KD if he becomes available, as was the case in the summer. Durant wasn’t the only Nets player that the Suns were interested in, as they even made an offer for Kyrie.

The Suns Made A Serious Offer For Kyrie Irving

There had been some rumblings that the Suns might look to trade Chris Paul, and it turns out that they did include him in a package for Kyrie. The Suns offered Paul, Jae Crowder, and a first-round pick , but after the Nets asked for 3 first-round picks, they lost interest in the trade.

It is clear that the Suns are desperately looking to upgrade their roster prior to the deadline as they look to make amends for the disastrous end to last season. One has to wonder, though, about how Paul would react to this news of him being a part of that package. He knows this is a business and is a top professional, but there definitely would be a bit of tension between him and the front office after this.
