Stephen Curry is one of the most respected veteran superstars in the league, and there’s no doubt that he has experienced almost everything the league has to offer. That also includes negative things, such as vitriol from opposing fanbases.
There has definitely been some back and forth between Warriors and Celtics fans during this Finals series. Celtics fans have even taken shots at Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry.
Stephen Curry was recently asked about the back and forth between the Celtics and Warriors fans. He jokingly responded that he’s the “Petty King”, and added that he uses the jabs from fans as “entertainment”, and simply has “fun” with it.

I’m the Petty King, so I know all about everything. I use it as entertainment and just have fun with it. The more you’re on the stage, the more you realize the attention that is on you, how much it means to each fan base, how much it means to the cities. So you can’t really be surprised by anything. There’s a lot at stake when it comes to winning championships.
Maybe back in the day, the first year, first two years, maybe things catch you off guard just because it’s so new, and you wonder how these narratives come up, all the distractions pop up here and there. I think the more you get into these environments, the more you use it as entertainment, fun, embrace it. Honestly, you wouldn’t want to have it any other way, knowing that you’re on this stage and you’re playing for something that really matters to a lot of people.
Stephen Curry is right in saying that a championship “matters to a lot of people” in both fanbases and that there’s “a lot at stake”. This championship would give Stephen Curry the 4th championship of his career and a presumed Finals MVP and for the Celtics, if they win, that would be their first championship since the 2008 season.
Hopefully, we see a fantastic Game 6, and there’s a chance that the Boston Celtics could end up forcing Game 7. However, Stephen Curry will likely come out strong, and if he performs well, the Golden State Warriors will probably close out the Celtics today.
