LeBron James has been the most relevant basketball player of the last two decades. After wrapping up his 19th season with a 30-point scoring average, LeBron has proven that he still has a lot left in the tank. However, this isn’t the same player that willed a hapless Cavaliers team to the 2007 Finals. He is more vulnerable now, as evidenced by the Lakers missing the post-season in 2022.

The Lakers’ star still believes that he is the king and on top, a mentality that is required for players at this level. If you don’t think you’re the best, what is the point of trying to compete against them? LeBron is still competing against the best in the sport and used some lyrics to send a message to all the haters on Twitter.

Even though he is entering Year 20 the next time we see him on the court, LeBron shared some lyrics from iconic rapper Nas’s 1999 track ‘Hate Me Now’.

Hate on me, I blew but I'm the same OG
People warned me: "When you're on top there's envy"

— LeBron James (@KingJames) May 9, 2022

LeBron James is known to be one of the most headstrong players of this era. He has routinely done what he wants and what is the best for his career. From the move to Miami in 2010 to moving to LA in 2018, LeBron has done what is best for him always. That has caused a lot of uproar around him, but he has never let the hate bother him.

Even if James is not doing well for a stretch on the court, he is the same player that is put in conversation with the greatest player of all time. Many offended by that notion tear LeBron down, but it proves that the only reason they are attacking King James is that he has reached a state where the conversation around him being the greatest has become realistic.

Hopefully, this isn’t all just talk on Twitter but the Lakers and LeBron can return to being competitive next season.
