Channing Frye Takes A Shot At Michael Jordan: ‘He Was Only A Scorer’

2 Min Read

“The Last Dance” has served as an awesome reminder to the dominance of Michael Jordan and the 90s Bulls. For the first time since the 90s, we get to really understand why Jordan has been considered the GOAT since he retired in 2003.

But not everyone is convinced. Channing Frye, for example, clearly stands with his former teammate LeBron James when it comes to the GOAT conversation. Here was his explanation:

Michael Jordan is certainly not the greatest defender in NBA history, but to say his only job was to “score” is a bit of a stretch. He averaged over 6 rebounds and 5 assists for his career and also made 9 All-Defensive teams.

Plus, he was also the de facto leader for his team both on the court and in the locker room. He helped set the tone and inspired excellence from everyone on the roster.

Certainly, he had more than one job — and he did them all well.

As for LeBron, the same well-roundedness can be said about him. Like Mike, he does a little bit of everything on the floor. Whether or not he’s better than MJ, though, will always be up for debate.
