23-year-old Kevin Porter Jr. is facing some serious consequences after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, in a New York City hotel room this Sunday. After receiving a 911 call tracing back to the incident, Porter Jr. was arrested by authorities and officially charged with second-degree assault… but that’s not all.

In the aftermath of the breaking story’s release, the sister of Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, (named Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins) decided to take matters into her own hands with a daunting Instagram message: “If you think you gonna touch my sister and not get touched, count your f—ing days. Better hope and pray you’ll be able ever walk again let alone dribble. You may have gotten away with this sh-t in the past cause yo mamma ain’t beat your a– but we spank little punk painting nail sissy b–ches like you everyday. Don’t show up to the crib. We gone do it to you, little b–ch.”

While the exact details of the encounter have yet to be unveiled, the stories claim that Porter Jr. struck Gondrezick multiple times across the face and placed his hands around her neck. “Porter Jr. allegedly attacked the victim overnight Monday at the Millennium Hotel near Times Square. His girlfriend was taken to the hospital with at least one broken bone and bruising, law enforcement officials told NBC New York.”

Porter Jr. Is Jeopardizing His Young Career

When it comes to cases of domestic violence/assault, the NBA doesn’t have a lot of patience. In the case of Miles Bridges, who pleaded “no contest” to domestic violence charges in November, was given a 30 games suspension from the NBA for his role in a scary incident involving the mother of his children.

Obviously it’s too early to say what the fallout will look like for Kevin Porter Jr., but there will likely be a full investigation from both the NBA and law enforcement. If found guilty on the accused charges, Porter Jr. could face a hefty fine and/or a long suspension from the league.

For such a young player who has shown a lot of promise, this is probably the worst-case scenario of his career and it could take some time before his reputation recovers.

Cultural Problems In Houston?

Kevin Porter Jr. was among the core members of the Rockets going into next season, and this whole ordeal is no doubt a major blow for the organization. Unfortunately, behavior/culture problems have become a very big problem for the Rockets internally and it could become a major stumbling block in their path to improvement.

Last season, with a roster full of immature young players trying to prove themselves, Houston finished almost dead last in the West with just 22 total wins on the season. This summer, they tried to address some of their problems by adding experienced veterans like Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.

Only time will tell if those additions are enough to steer this team on the right track, but the situation is looking pretty dire right now amid this latest controversy with Kevin Porter Jr.
