Despite the doubts about his fitness, DeMar DeRozan has been sensational for the Chicago Bulls this season. DeRozan joined the Bulls this offseason as a free agent and has become one of the cornerstones of their offense.
DeRozan has had a career resurgence in Chicago and is playing some of the best basketball of his career since his days with the Toronto Raptors. At this rate, DeRozan could become an All-Star for the first time since 2018. JJ Redick even believes that DeRozan is a top-3 MVP candidate this season.
Alongside Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball, and Nikola Vucevic, the Chicago Bulls have one of the most intimidating offenses in the NBA. On any given night, any of these players can take over the game and get the Bulls the win in a difficult situation.
Their incredible offensive showing is one of the biggest reasons for their great record. At the time of this writing, the Bulls have one of the best records in the NBA with 12-5 and are first in the Eastern Conference standings.
And last night, DeMar DeRozan made history for the Chicago Bulls, surpassing the greatest of all time. DeMar DeRozan has scored 425 points across his first 16 games. That is one point more than Michael Jordan had in his first 16 games with the Bulls, with 424.

Obviously, it must be mentioned that Jordan’s first 16 games with the Bulls were as a rookie, whereas DeRozan is in the prime of his NBA career. But any time you’re able to surpass Jordan is a big accomplishment.
Going forward, DeRozan and the Bulls will be hoping to break their playoff duck over the last few years and make a deep run. While the Eastern Conference is a lot tougher now, the Bulls have one of the best squads in the NBA right now and can make a good run.
