The Los Angeles Lakers yet made their latest signing of the offseason as they signed former Celtics guard Dennis Schroder to a one-year deal. Given that the Schroder had a rather disappointing stint with the Lake show back in the 2020-21 season, seeing this deal go through was rather a surprise for many fans.

Ever since his move away from the Lakers, Schroder has somewhat struggled for game time. Playing for the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets, Schroder was decent in the limited minutes he was on the court. It will certainly be interesting to see how he performs for the Lakers in his second stint.

Schroder Got His 2nd Chance With The Lakers 2 Months After Wanting To Run It Back With LeBron James

Dennis Schroder’s time away from the Lakers hasn’t been that eventful. While averages of 13.5 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game are rather decent for a role player, given that a championship-hopeful team like the Celtics were willing to let go of the German guard, things looked a bit bleak for Schroder.

A free agent in the offseason, the guard was certainly looking to make his way back to the league. In one such instance, the 29-year-old reacted to a LeBron James comment back in July. Commenting to run it back; it seemed like the German was interested in a move back to the Crypto.Com arena.

Two months later, the Lakers have indeed signed the German. Perhaps one of the biggest catalysts for the same was how impressive the veteran guard has been in the EuroBasket. Putting up incredible performances for the German team, Schroder played a pivotal role in Germany’s run to the semifinals.

With the likes of Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, and Kendrick Nunn competing with him for a spot, Schroder will have to prove his worth if he wants to start for the team. Can Schroder redeem himself after a disappointing first stint with the Purple and Gold?
