LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won a huge game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, but it’s something James said off the court that’s created headlines.

LeBron James has been known to be quite cheap in life despite the vast sums available to him. And this aspect of his personality came to the forefront again after he tweeted saying he wouldn’t pay for Elon Musk’s new Twitter Blue.

“Welp guess my blue will be gone soon ’cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5,” James tweeted.

The post naturally went viral, with over 230,000 people liking what LeBron James had to say. And a lot of those fans were trolling LeBron James for being such a cheap individual, like this fan on Reddit who said, “Bron listening to ads during his workout.” This is a reference to James refusing to buy a premium streaming service to listen to music

But there were fans on Twitter who thought it was a prudent move from James, with a comment saying, “Solid financial advice here: No matter how much money you have, don’t buy pointless bullsh*t.”

These are the exceptions though, most just tried to poke fun at James for not shilling out the handful of dollars per month. One fan brought up Dwyane Wade’s comments: “Wade said this man was using the ad version of music streaming services.”

There was a hilarious Seinfeld reference from another fan on Reddit as well, who wrote: “LeBron being cheaper than George Costanza never stops being funny.”

And some want to hear more about what James is like off the court in this regard, with a fan writing, “I love the LeBron being cheap stories so much. I’m excited for when he retires and more of the fun stories can come out.”

LeBron James’ Refusal To Pay Has Seen Him Get Trolled Using His Movie Cameos

It’s not always about how much money someone has, it’s oftentimes a matter of principle in terms of whether people will pay for things or not. And LeBron James is so cheap that it was a bit in a movie, so he was never going to do that.

“I knew LeBron acted this scene in Trainwreck a little TOO well.”

LeBron James’ refusal to pay could cause huge problems for Elon Musk and his new project. He needs celebrities to buy in, as that is what makes a blue check valuable. It seems LeBron James’ cheapness has gotten in the way of him.
