Michael Jordan burned a lot of bridges with the release of his ‘Last Dance’ documentary, but his relationship with Isiah Thomas reached an all-time low after the project.
After being berated by Jordan on the doc, with the Bulls star calling him an “a**hole,” Thomas spoke out in defense of himself and even revealed that Jordan sent reps to apologize to him privately.
“My man @ShannonSharpe @RealSkipBayless please listen to my words, the apology has come from his people speaking for him privately, my request is you said it publicly take it back publicly don’t send your people to apologize behind the scenes.”

Thomas and Jordan were fierce rivals back in the day, and it’s no secret that they harbored no love for each other in their playing days.
But after decades of time, fans forgot about their rivalry… until Jordan and the Bulls revived it in ‘The Last Dance.’
“You got on national television, and you called me an a****e, and then you said you hated me,” he said. “You said that on national television. Now, if you didn’t mean it, get on national television and apologize for it. Now, if you meant it, let it ride as it is.”
Jordan has yet to officially or publicly respond to IT’s outrage, but that’s going to be what it takes if he wants to squander this beef once and for all.
Why Did MJ Have A Problem With Thomas?
At the time, Thomas was the leader and face of the ‘Bad Boy Pistons,’ who often resorted to aggressive and borderline dangerous tactics to slow down Jordan during his ascension.
It did work in the beginning until the early 90s when the Bulls finally reached their peak. Despite being highly competitive himself, it seems Michael Jordan never truly forgave Thomas for his tactics and behavior on the court.
“I know it’s all bull—-,” Jordan said in the fourth episode of ‘The Last Dance.’ “Whatever he says now, you know it wasn’t his true actions then. He has time left to think about it, or the reaction from the public has changed his perspective. You can show me anything you want,” Jordan said. There’s no way you can convince me he wasn’t a (jerk).”
Only time will tell if this relationship can ever be mended, but the ball is in Jordan’s court now. If he really wants to fix things with Isiah Thomas, he knows what he has to do.
Unfortunately, Jordan has never been one to publicly admit his mistakes, and this is unlikely to be the exception.
