Ja Morant Co-Leads The NBA In Most Points In The Paint Per Games

2 Min Read

Ja Morant started this NBA season keen to demonstrate he is the real deal. The Memphis Grizzlies young star has shown his quality in the past couple of seasons, but this term could be great for the point guard.

The player is one of the early MVP candidates thanks to his performances for the Grizzlies, averaging 28.7 points per game in six games. Morant is on a mission right now and he won’t rest until he emulates and improves his performances from last season.

He’s stepped up for his team, taking his leadership role more seriously. One of the best stats about the player involves his paint points. Ja is currently co-leading the league in this item, scoring 16.0 points at the paint. He’s tied with Anthony Davis.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (15.2), Nikola Jokic (14.4) and Montrezl Harrell (14.4) complete the top 5.

This is remarkable for Ja, but things take a different dimension when you realize he’s a point guard while the rest of the players on the list are big men. Four power forwards and a center are being surpassed by a player who plays in the shortest position on the court.

Besides this being a critic to the other four, it’s a big proof of how dangerous Morant is. This kid is starting his 3rd NBA season with a chip on his shoulder and both Memphis and rival fans are enjoying his play.

Of course, people will always say he needs to expand his game and start shooting from outside. Once he adds a jumper to his arsenal, it’ll be scary hours for rivals. Meanwhile, Ja keeps bullying the rim, leaving no doubt he’s one of the best finishers in the association.
