Ja Morant is the face of the Memphis Grizzlies but he has suffered through a torrid few weeks recently. The budding superstar was involved in a scandal after flashing a gun at a strip club.

This led to Ja Morant taking time away from the Memphis Grizzlies, with the league continuing to investigate. But now he has met NBA commissioner Adam Silver in New York as he prepares to make his return to the court.

“Grizzlies star Ja Morant met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver in New York today,” tweeted Adrian Wojnarowski. “Morant has left a counseling program in Florida and moves closer to ramping up for return to season now. He must wait on league announcement of findings in probe, expected soon.”

Ja Morant had to deal with more ridicule and questioning after photos were leaked of him getting a lap dance in a room filled with cash. His previous controversies have also been brought up and spoken about a lot more since the incident. But things finally seem to be improving for him.

The investigation the NBA has done into the situation might still yield further punishment for Ja Morant, but this is a good sign for him and the Grizzlies. After spending some time in a counseling program in Florida, Morant will hopefully be returning to the court with a renewed sense of perspective and some ideas on how to present himself moving forward to avoid more grief.

How Have The Memphis Grizzlies Fared Without Ja Morant?

Any time a team has to be without their main star, that puts up 27 points per game, they are bound to suffer. But the Memphis Grizzlies have shown that this version of the team finds a way to succeed even without their talisman time and again. And that ability has come in handy during his latest absence, with the Grizzlies retaining the 2nd seed spot in the Western Conference.

They have played 5 games without Morant, and while they lost the first two of those, they have rattled off a nice 3-game winning streak since. This includes a demolition of the Golden State Warriors followed by back-to-back wins against the shorthanded Dallas Mavericks. If Ja Morant comes back motivated to shut the haters up, the Grizzlies might just be in a good position to enter the playoffs despite all the turmoil.
