In an appearance on ‘The Dan Patrick Show,’ NBA veteran Jamal Crawford gave his thoughts on Bronny James and gave him one piece of advice for the future. Contrary to some popular thinking, Crawford believes that Bronny can make his own legacy in the NBA and that he’d be on the path to success whether LeBron is his dad or not.

“I watched him at the combine and even before that, I love how he plays… his humility. He handles it beautifully, he knows how to play the game. He’s athletic he can shoot it, and he makes the right play almost every time. 6’1″ with a 40-inch vertical, that’s going to jump off the page,” said Crawford. “And then you shoot 25 threes and make 19 of them, I’m watching that. And he’s making the right play.”

.@JCrossover explains why he would've noticed Bronny James at the #NBA Combine even if he wasn't LeBron's son.

Bronny, 19, has become a hot topic of the upcoming draft class. Despite being considered a second-round prospect, at best, James is being heavily featured across all major networks as a star of the next generation of the game. The numbers, however, tell a different story.

In his lone season at USC, Bronny averaged just 4.8 points per game and came off the bench for the majority of the season. With just 2.1 assists per game, he has yet to show the same level of playmaking as his father and he isn’t nearly the defender either at just 6’1″.

But James does have great athleticism on the court with a 40-inch vertical and he has great instincts as a naturally smart and high-IQ player. Most importantly, however, Bronny knows his role and he plays to his strengths.

If James can consistently hit threes and defend at a respectable level, it may be all he needs to succeed in the league and set himself up for a long and prosperous career in the NBA.

Bronny’s Future Is Undecided

After moving to the transfer portal this summer, Bronny has left his options open for various outcomes. If he doesn’t like his odds in the draft or feels like it will be better to wait, he could easily jump back into the college scene and re-commit for another year. He could just as easily cement his path to the NBA as well by signing with whichever team calls his name on draft night.

Either way, all eyes are on Bronny as the big day approaches and the entire NBA world is waiting to see where the kid will end up.

Currently, the Lakers are seen as a major threat to pick him up and it makes a lot of sense given the presence of LeBron and their need for some depth in the backcourt. But while the Lakers are more than willing to draft Bronny in order to appease the King, he is drawing interest from other teams for reasons unrelated to his dad.

The Thunder, Wizards, Mavericks, and other teams have expressed interest in Bronny and there is a growing belief that he can impact winning at the highest levels of the game. Now all that’s left is for him to go out and prove to the world that he doesn’t need to ride the coattails of his dad’s success to carve out a roster spot next summer.
