In a twist that nobody saw coming, the 8th-seeded Miami Heat are now a win away from the NBA Finals for the second time in the Jimmy Butler era. This time, unlike their un in 2020, NBA fans failed to see this one coming and Jimmy Butler himself is making sure to relish in the moment.
On Instagram, after Sunday’s likely series-clinching victory, Butler responded with a short and simple message that kept the ultimate mission in focus.

Butler has actually been posting a countdown since the playoffs began, slowly watching the number fall as he pulled off upset after upset. As great as this story has been for Miami, it’s important to note that the job isn’t yet finished.
If Butler’s story is a hint of anything, it’s that the Heat will not step off the gas for Game 4 and the Celtics are in serious jeopardy of being swept if they cannot get their act together.
Jimmy Butler Is Having A History Playoff Run
When considering the Heat’s superb postseason play, you obviously have to credit head coach Erik Spoelstra and guys like Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, and Max Strus for stepping up and rising to the occasion. Of course, this team only goes as far as Butler takes them, and his dominance through the first three rounds has been truly impressive to watch.
“For me, it’s a matter of understanding that, yeah, sure, you did ‘poke a bear.’ And how are you going to respond? Because, for me, he made some tough shots,” said Grant Williams on Butler. “I think he said something and I responded. You know, for me, I’m a competitor, and I’m gonna battle. He got the best of me tonight, and at the end of the day, it’s out of respect, because I’m not gonna run away from it. I battled, and I’m going to keep battling. He’s going to have to make every single tough shot the rest of the series, and I’m not going to turn and look otherwise because I respect him as a motherf*****g player.”
Besides arguably the bug man in Denver, Jimmy Butler has been the best player in these playoffs so far. Between his intensity, leadership, and amazing shot-making down the stretch, there is no question that he’s in the middle of something special.
