Anthony Edwards was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and there’s no doubt that many fans and analysts are high on his potential. Edwards has already shown that he has the talent to be a superstar, and he is impactful on both ends of the floor. Anthony Edwards had a productive season with the Minnesota Timberwolves last year, averaging 21.3 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 3.8 APG for the team.

Karl-Anthony Towns has recently praised Anthony Edwards on NBA Today. When asked about his co-star’s ceiling, Towns stated that Edwards’ ceiling is “whatever he wants it to be”. (4:21):

His ceiling is whatever he wants it to be. I think the sky’s the limit for him. His talent level speaks for itself. People questioned his jumper… last year he comes and shoots the best shooting splits of his career. He picked up his jumper so much. He’ just getting better with experience. He’s understanding how to get to his spots even easier, he’s understanding double teams… I think that he’s on his way to greatness… There isn’t really a ceiling.

There is no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t the only player who is insanely high on Anthony Edwards. Former Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley has previously claimed that Anthony Edwards has the ability to become Michael Jordan.

I told him… you got a chance brother, to be Michael Jordan. The kid doesn’t indulge in anything negative… just all positivity. His talent level and skill level is crazy, he has a chance to be really, really, really special, really special in this league.

While it is unlikely that Anthony Edwards will become Michael Jordan, he could definitely become an MVP-type player in the future. His combination of talent, athleticism, and skill definitely suggests that being a superstar is a possible outcome for him in the future.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made a win-now move for Rudy Gobert recently, and it is clear that they believe in Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards as the pillars of their franchise. Perhaps we will see them win a championship in the future, and they definitely have the talent to do so.
