Kyle Kuzma’s Reaction To DeMar DeRozan Making A Buzzer-Beater Right After His Clutch 3: “He Said ‘Hold My Beer'”

3 Min Read

DeMar DeRozan made history on Saturday night, proving he’s living a second youth in Chicago after three underwhelming seasons in San Antonio. What was deemed the worst move of the offseason by many people has turned out to be a terrific addition to the Bulls, who now sit atop the Eastern Conference standings.

The Washington Wizards-Chicago Bulls duel on Saturday night had a wild ending, with Kyle Kuzma and DeRozan exchanging clutch shots during the last seconds of the match.

Just when the former Los Angeles Lakers player thought the Bulls couldn’t come back after he made a 3, DeRozan pulled up and drained a corner shot to send everyone into a frenzy.

After the game was over, Kuzma reacted to the 3-pointer, channeling his inner comedian to explain DeRozan’s mentality going into that play.

“Brad [Beal] hit me on that play and I hit a 3 and– I mean, s**t happens. DeMar told me, ‘hold my beer,’ so… It happens. He’s a great player. He made a hell of a shot,” Kuz told after the match.

After he made his shot, Kuz, and the Wizards celebrated, with the player lifting his arms thinking the job was practically done. DeRozan would have the last word and laugh, giving the Bulls an incredible win on the road.

In doing so, he became the first player to hit buzzer-beaters on back-to-back days, confirming he’s on a tear right now. DeRozan is one of the biggest stories this season, and there’s no doubt he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder.

Just when many people thought he was on his way out of the league, the veteran swingman has told otherwise, proving doubters wrong and making the Bulls serious candidates in the East this season. He finished the game with 28 points and 9 rebounds.

Things couldn’t look better for Chicago. They are in a privileged position right now and nothing points out that will change anytime soon. This team landed the right pieces to compete and they’re exceeding expectations. You just love to see it.
