• Irving explained his movements and how he made the play happen

The basketball wizardry Kyrie Irving is capable of often gets forgotten due to his off-court antics. But he’s easily one of the greatest dribbles in NBA history. He’s shown his talent on the court repeatedly, saving some of his greatest highlight plays for when he’s guarded by Stephen Curry.

Irving broke down an incredible crossover on Curry from his days with the Celtics on Twitch.

“That move I had on Steph in Golden State when I dropped it, I still remember that move. I practiced it plenty of times. Head fake, jab, head fake, jab, drop, drop it again, and then shake without touching the ball. So you drop it, spin it, so you catch it with your left hand. Then I faded and saw people at the baseline.”

Irving has averaged 23.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists against Curry in his career, holding an 8-9 head-to-head record.

Curry’s overall career accomplishments far exceed that of Irving’s, but their on-court matchup always produces must-watch television. After all, Irving hit one of the greatest shots in NBA history over Curry in the 2016 Finals.

Kyrie Irving Looking To Return To Contention

Kyrie Irving didn’t feature in the 2023 Playoffs, as his Dallas Mavericks missed the postseason. It was a massive failure for the superstar dup of Irving and Luka Doncic, who failed in their short stint together. Irving averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 20 games with the Mavs.

Curry has been dominating the NBA over the last decade, standing as a four-time champion to Irving’s one-time. The Mavericks aren’t equipped to contend for a title immediately, but if Irving turns back the clock and has a drama-free season off the court, he can elevate the team and Doncic into becoming a force in the West.
