In Los Angeles, the Lakers are feeling hopeful for what’s to come after a surprise run to the Conference Finals. This summer, while the Lakers didn’t make any major moves, they did strengthen their supporting cast in an effort to build upon what they already have.

While it’s still too early to say what next season will bring, the early signs are looking positive so far. In the latest clip from Laker land, we can see LeBron James spend time in a private workout with his young teammate, Rui Hachimura.

Rui was acquired mid-way through last season in a desperate trade with the Washington Wizards. At the time, the Lakers were looking for any opportunity to improve their roster, and Rui gave them a chance to add some valuable depth to the frontcourt.

Fortunately, Hachimura became a success story for the Lakers and his contributions for them throughout the postseason were enough to earn him a lucrative new extension in the summer.

As for LeBron James, he’s closer to the end of his career than the beginning but you have to give him credit for leading by example and putting in the work to stay on top of his game. In the clip above, we didn’t actually see LeBron take any shots, but he was chilling on the sidelines like a proud teammate, cheering for every made basket.

Can LeBron Lead The Lakers To Another Title?

After a short retirement scare this summer, LeBron put down all rumors of calling it quits and he is confirmed to return for his 21st season. The question is, what kind of team will the Lakers be now that he’s back?

With mostly the same core of players, there’s no reason to think the Lakers won’t be near the top of the standings next season, especially since they expanded on their supporting cast with additions like Taureen Prince and Cam Reddish.

The key to success, however, rests with LeBron. As long as he’s the same guy we’ve known for 20 years, the Purple and Gold will be just fine and he showed no signs of slowing down with a scoring average of 28.9 points per game. But if/when he starts his inevitable decline, things could take a turn for the worst.

For now, at least, LeBron seems as strong as ever and Lakers fans can rest easy knowing he’ll be ready to go come October.
