• James ignored coach David Blatt’s play for JR Smith, grabbed the clipboard, and demanded the shot for himself

LeBron James has long been taunted for lacking the killer mindset like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. But his former teammate Brendan Haywood proved it’s nonsense.

Haywood narrated a story from the 2015 Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls. The former NBA center reveals how James demanded the final shot in Game 4 of the series and ignored coach David Blatt’s play for JR Smith.

“Playing with him in Cleveland showed me that all that nonsense like Skip Bayless be talking, ‘He don’t have the killer gene,'” Haywood said on No Chill with Gilbert Arenas. “Man, if you don’t shut your old a** up. Do you remember the shot that LeBron hit against Jimmy Butler in Chicago to three [actually a two-pointer] in the corner? So Bron had actually been playing terrible down the stretch of that game.

“Turnovers, missed some shots, free throws, terrible! And we get to the huddle and David Blatt, he draws the play, ‘JR you get right here and get the shot.’ I’ve never seen this, he said, ‘Absolutely not.’ Grabs the clipboard, erases the play and just said, ‘Alright this is what we are going to run. You go here. Hey, I’m going to fake this way, I will pop to the corner and give me the ball right there. I’m going to hit the shot.’ I’ve never seen somebody draw up their own game-winner. Bron’s not scared of that moment.”

The game was tied at 84-84 with 1.5 seconds left in the clock. LeBron James received the ball as drawn in the play and nailed the game-winner over Jimmy Butler. The Cavs won Game 4 with 86-84, and James had 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists in the matchup.

The Cavaliers won the next two games and eliminated the Bulls in six games. For the series, LeBron averaged 26.2 PPG, 11.0 RPG, and 8.8 APG. He was undoubtedly the Cavaliers’ best player in the series.

LeBron James Rubbed Salt In Wounds Of The Bulls Fans

It’s been eight years since LeBron James hit the epic game-winner vs. the Chicago Bulls in the playoffs.

But the King recently posted a highlight of the game-winner on his Instagram story with a snide caption. Had James missed the shot, the game would have headed to overtime, and the Cavaliers would have most probably lost.

They would have gone down 3-1 in the series. Thanks to James’ heroics, the Cavs avoided a 3-1 deficit and ultimately advanced to the next round of the playoffs.
