John Wall hasn’t been very active recently, despite being healthy and ready to play. His tenure with the Houston Rockets has been rocky, first with the team dealing with the James Harden situation last season, and now with the organization focusing on their young players, who are the future.

Wall and the Rockets agreed to find a trade partner for him, but that search ended in nothing, although he was linked with a move to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the trade deadline. Now, he’s ready to leave the franchise in the offseason and the Rockets are studying different ways to end this partnership.

It seems like they’ll keep pushing for a trade for the point guard, but if not, other options are on the table. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Rockets could look into trading Wall away. If not, they could study a buyout for the former All-Star. Moreover, Fischer reports that the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat are two of the candidates to sign the former Washington Wizards star.

If the Rockets are unable to find a trade for Wall before the June 23 NBA draft, all signs now point to Houston and Wall’s representation revisiting buyout talks prior to free agency in July. In that event, Wall would become an unrestricted free agent, and the Clippers, along with the Miami Heat, have been mentioned by league sources as strong potential landing spots for him.

Wall can still be helpful for a team in the league and these two franchises could use him for next season. The Clippers couldn’t make it to the playoffs after losing their two play-in games. They spent a big part of the season without Paul George, while Kawhi Leonard didn’t play a single game.

The Heat are one of the best teams in the league right now, and adding Wall would make them more powerful. This offseason seems to be an entertaining one for the Rockets and his player, but nothing points out they could trade him so easily. If that doesn’t happen, they’ll have to find a different way to get rid of Wall. However, that alternative won’t bring them anything in return for the point guard.
