Another batch of tests came back, and Marcus Smart is the latest person to be confirmed to have Coronavirus.
Amid the NBA suspension, the league and its players are taking the time to get out in front of this thing. They are urging people to wash their hands, instituting self-quarantine guidelines, and getting themselves tested as the numbers continue to rise within the NBA community.
After finding out he was suffering from COVID-19, Smart issued a warning and plea to his fans on Twitter.
I was tested 5 days ago and the results came back tonight, which were positive. Ive been self quarantined since the test, thank goodness. COVID-19 must be taken w the highest of seriousness. I know it’s a #1 priority for our nations health experts, & we must get more testing ASAP pic.twitter.com/xkijb9wlKV

He obviously wants people to take this thing seriously. And in a culture that is so skeptical of everything, it’s becoming clear just how serious this pandemic has become.
Nobody is safe from infection, not even NBA players. And while most of these guys are asymptomatic, they can definitely expose someone whose body may not be as equipped to deal with it.
All-in-all, the coronavirus is instilling a lot of panic in our country and around the world — and there’s good reason for it. The best thing we can all do, though, is to stay vigilant, wash our hands, and take this threat as seriously as Marcus and others around the NBA are taking it.
