Following the tragic death of George Floyd, citizens if the United States of America banded together to fight racism, police brutality, and social injustice. It quickly became a worldwide movement, with cities all around the globe protesting for change.

Many companies and brands have committed themselves to taking action, including Jordan Brand.

In a joint statement made by MJ, the company will pledge to donate over $100 million over the next ten years to “promoting racial equality and social justice.”

“I don’t have the answers, but our collective voices show strength and the inability to be divided by others. We must listen to each other, show compassion and empathy and never turn our backs on senseless brutality. We need to continue peaceful expressions against injustice and demand accountability. Our unified voice needs to put pressure on our leaders to change our laws, or else we need to use our vote to create systemic change. Every one of us needs to be part of the solution, and we must work together to ensure justice for all.”

Jordan Brand joins other companies like Nike, Etsy, Amazon, Verizon, and many other global names to dedicate a chunk of their earnings to the cause. Even more have issued public statements, like the NFL — whose Commissioner, Roger Goodell, went on record to stand for the BLM movement.

In the fight for equality and against racism, the world is banding together in a remarkable way — and the world’s greatest athlete has aligned himself on the right side of history.
