NBA 2K Fans Are Disappointed After 2K21 Demo Releases

3 Min Read

The NBA 2K fans had the chance to try the NBA 2K21 current-gen demo. There was a lot of hype for this but 2K has failed to meet the expectations once again. 2K20 already faced some criticism and judging what fans had to say about this demo, things won’t be easier for 2K21. The current-gen demo didn’t feature any major change and fans were quick to call out the developers for the game.

Hrithik Unnikrishnan of Essentially Sports broke down the not-so-big changes in NBA 2K21, which is why fans are fuming with the developers and the ‘poor’ work they made to improve last year’s product.

Despite the studio promising a major revamp in it, the game does not have enough changes that can be pointed out.The MyPlayer Builds feature is similar to what the franchise had last year on NBA 2K20. A new default face might be the biggest change in terms of builds this year. Sadly, there are also no new hairstyles in the game. On the plus side, there are 4 extra pie charts for each position.2K has reworked some badges, but most remain the same. Design is identical too, except for some tuning that went into some badges. The animations you see in 2K21 are, once again, the same as from 2K20. Most of the dribbles that popular streamers tried out are identical to those from the previous title.Aiming the shot is one of the major aspects where you see a change. And you also get notified if you get the timing right, which is pretty great. Finishing is also different, but there are no major changes in the animations.

Fans are furious, with all due reason, and you can tell the company will have trouble selling this game. It’s understandable that the coronavirus pandemic damaged any plans they could have had, but that’s not an excuse to bring a product almost the same as the one they released last year.

This will be hard to overcome for the people in charge of the video game. This doesn’t look good for them and it doesn’t seem like they will make major changes soon.
