The Golden State Warriors had every reason to party earlier this week after they clinched their 4th championship with their current core. They took an early lead against the Celtics in Game 6 and never relinquished it, riding another huge Steph Curry performance to clinch the title in Boston. The scenes were quite emotional afterward, with the team celebrating on the court with their families and then carrying on the celebration after getting the trophies.
As it usually happens, the court was full of family members of the team and other members of the organization, who were all a part of the ensuing party. In the chaos of such situations, it’s hard to tell who is who and one fan on Instagram shared the story of how he was able to join the party. After a YouTuber that looks like Klay Thompson got onto the court before a game at the Chase Center earlier during the series, this fan was able to be a part of the team’s celebrations by claiming to be Curry’s cousin.
He shared a reel on Instagram showing how close he was to all the players on the court, and then how he subsequently joined the team in the friends and family room after. The fan could be seen partying with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr, and he even passed a dejected Jayson Tatum leaving the arena.
Furthermore, he was even able to get a picture with the Larry O’Brien trophy, presumably when it made its way around the room during the party. In many ways, this fan lived out every fan’s dream, but it does raise some more questions about the security at the event. While it’s impressive in a way that he was able to be so involved, there will be some safety concerns to think about in the future.
