The 2013 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs was extremely crucial for LeBron James’ legacy in the NBA. It was Year 3 of the Heatles, and they almost fumbled the title against the Spurs.

Many credit Ray Allen for saving LeBron James’ legacy by hitting his famous three-pointer in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. Allen’s three-pointer tied the game, and the Heat won the matchup in overtime. But was Allen’s shot the only reason why the Heat won that game? An NBA fan on Twitter recently debunked that theory by showing James’ stats in the game.

As shown in the clip, the Heat trailed 85-75 entering the fourth quarter of Game 6. James then went on to score 16 points and assisted on 6 points to bring the game closer. Moreover, James also had multiple defensive stops.

Thanks to them, the Heat were within 3 points with 19.4 seconds remaining on the clock. Allen knocked down his famous three-pointer to tie the game at 95-95. The Heat ultimately won the game 103-100 after overtime. James finished the game with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The Heat handled business in Game 7 of the series and became back-to-back winners of the NBA. For the series, James averaged 25.3 PPG, 10.9 RPG, and 7.0 APG. He won the second NBA Finals MVP of his career for his performance.

Ray Allen On His Legendary Game 6 Shot vs. The Spurs In The 2013 NBA Finals

Even today, the consensus believes Ray Allen saved LeBron James’ legacy by drilling the three-point shot in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.

The former NBA star spoke about his legendary shot in an interview with the league. Allen believes the shot changed the tide of a lot of people’s careers.

“For me, I always say that it was written. All the shots I have hit in my career, this is the one that people will talk about the most. And this will be the one, at this stage, at this level, where it changed the tide of a lot of people’s careers on both sides, and certainly franchises. So, players make plays, and shooters shoot.”

Regardless of how fans may try to frame it, Allen’s shot will forever uphold a valuable place in the career of LeBron. The Game 6 win was ultimately a team effort and would have been impossible without either star’s performance.
