NBA Fans slammed former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce for calling Richard Jefferson the most overrated player he played against.

Earlier, Pierce appeared on the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast earlier and spoke about his time while he was with the Celtics to his ESPN ouster. However, the controversial statement came when he named Jefferson as the most overrated player he played against.

And fans weren’t a pleased lot. “He might have the same opinion,” one of the fans said.

Another fan reminded Pierce to pull up Jefferson’s stats: “Please go look at Richard Jefferson in the Nets days.”

“Bro got beef with Richard Jefferson, nobody rates Richard Jefferson Never seen that boy on a list,” a tweet read.

One fan didn’t pull his punches when he had this to say about Pierce: “Retired Paul Pierce most annoying NBA player fr.”S

Some believed it was because Jefferson got his ESPN contract.

It’s worth noting that both these players did suit up for the Nets. Pierce spent one season with the side and averaged 13.5 points and 4.3 rebounds. They may not be on the hardwood anymore, but it appears Pierce still had some feelings to be put out there.

Richard Jefferson Didn’t Hold Back When Responding To Paul Pierce’s Comments

Call it fighting fire with fire, but Jefferson wasn’t one to back down. In a since-deleted video, the former Nets star took major shots at Pierce. “Stop saying my name, Stop DM’ing me @paulpierce34,” Jefferson tweeted.

Per a Fox report, he further added how Pierce didn’t really have concrete success with Boston until Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined the side. And to further add more fuel to the fire, said Pierce’s trade was one of the worst in the league history.

The clip and the tweet were deleted, but he did put up one more tweet. “Somethings are bigger than basketball. Thoughts with Paul Pierce right now,” Jefferson added.

Jefferson was the No. 13 overall pick of the Nets in 2001, and he played for the side for seven years averaging 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. He had the game and the skill set, punching well above his weight each time he played.

It remains to be seen if Pierce also calls it a truce in the days to come.
