The Boston Celtics have claimed their 18th NBA championship, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 in the 2024 NBA Finals.

The Celtics dominated the Mavericks in Game 5, as they beat them 106-88 to secure their first championship since 2008. This marks the first NBA championship for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The Celtics are now the winningest franchise in NBA history, surpassing the Lakers, who were tied with them for 17 NBA championships.

Banner 18 is going up in the T.D. Garden soon, and Celtics fans are elated to see their team finally win it all, after years of struggling at the final hurdle. Even some former Celtics joined in on the celebrations.

Celebrities like AEW TBS champion Mercedes Mone also celebrated the Celtics’ title win.

Of course, not everyone is happy to see the Celtics win again, especially Lakers fans. For the purple and gold faithful, seeing their eternal rivals surpass them in total championships is a difficult sight, and they let their feelings be known on social media, sharing some hilarious memes and clips to express their disappointment.

Lakers legend Magic Johnson also expressed his disappointment over the Celtics winning the NBA championship.

Members of Laker Nation expressed their frustration over the Celtics surpassing them in total NBA championships.

Despite the celebrations, some fans poked fun at Jayson Tatum’s expense, joking about how he is going to recreate the iconic Kobe Bryant picture while holding the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Celtics fans were thrilled to see how their team performed, watching them absolutely dominate the game and the NBA Finals to win the NBA championship. It was an absolutely solid performance from Jayson Tatum, who put up 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists as he led the Celtics to the title.

Tatum put on his best performance of the series, stepping up for the Celtics when they needed him most.

Jaylen Brown was no slouch either, as he scored 21 points, and provided 8 rebounds and 6 assists. He was named the NBA Finals MVP for his great performances, something fans said was well deserved.

For the Celtics, this is the completion of a very long journey, that started with them drafting Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in 2016 and 2017 respectively. The duo have often been questioned about their fit together, and whether they can win together. They have now proven that they are more than capable of doing just that.

Celtics fans will be incredibly happy about their win, and will enjoy the celebrations for the coming weeks. The parade in the streets of Boston will be one to remember, as the Celtics bring in their 18th championship in style.

There were those who doubted the Celtics ahead of the NBA Finals, with how the Mavericks played in the Western Conference Finals.

But the Celtics shut down Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic when it mattered most, not letting them play their usual frenetic and dominant style of basketball.

For Celtics fans, they got their jokes off at the duo’s expense, especially Irving, who was a former Celtic who left under controversial circumstances.

Doncic was not spared by fans either, who also had jokes made at his expense.

The next season is a different story altogether, but for now, the Celtics will enjoy the fruits of their labor. It was a long season and an even longer road for them to reach this point.

Congratulations to the Boston Celtics, your 2024 NBA Champions!
