Charles Barkley On The Lakers: “If Anthony Davis Isn’t One Of The Best 5 Players In The NBA, The Lakers Are Not Going To Win.”

After a rough start to the 2021-22 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers are finally stabilizing themselves and playing like a unit. Following their win against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers are on a two-game winning streak. Moreover, the team’s record for the season has now improved to 4-3.

Things are finally looking good for Lakers fans. The credit goes to the Big 3 of the team – LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis. Also, one cannot forget the contributions of Carmelo Anthony in the last few games.

While all the players are playing at an elite level, it appears that the decision to play Davis as a center did the work for the team. Since the purple and gold made that decision, the chemistry in the team has improved and they have won two consecutive games.

NBA Hall of Famer and analyst Charles Barkley AD’s contribution to the team is quite essential for the team’s success. Chuck said:

“We can talk about Russ, we can talk about LeBron… If Anthony Davis isn’t one of the 5 best players in the NBA, the Lakers are not going to win.”

The Lakers have a lot of star power, but the value that Davis brings to the table is unmatched. He is not only a great scorer but an elite defender as well. So it is quite obvious that the team needs him to play at a fantastic level.

At the same time, AD is very prone to injuries. If he overburdens himself, it will do the Lakers more harm than good. That being said, LeBron and Russ’ contributions are very crucial for the team as well.

With numerous good teams around the league, not even a single player from the Lakers Big 3 can afford to slack off. They did that during the first few games of the season and paid the price for it.

Moving forward, the Lakers will only get better and as things stand right now, Davis will continue to play at number 5 for most games of the season. After all, it is the recipe for success for the team.
