Jimmy Butler shocked many people across the NBA world when he decided to change his hairstyle in a major way. Butler has had short hair throughout his NBA career but has made a major switch up ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season. This offseason, Butler decided to unwind to the fullest and got hair extensions in Colombia.

Many people have reacted to the new hairstyle with either shock or have made fun of the Miami Heat star. Another person to make fun of his hair was his teammate and the godfather to his daughter, Kyle Lowry.

Lowry had appearances on Vince Carter’s podcast recently and spoke about Butler’s decision to get hair extensions. Carter said that he hadn’t seen his hair but had heard about it. Lowry would then tell the story of when Butler FaceTimed him to show him his new hairstyle.

“I talked to him on FaceTime on Tuesday, I believe it was Tuesday, and I said ‘what the f**k.’ He’s there, he’s saying, ‘it’s fire yo.’ I said, ‘bruh, come on.’ If anybody knows Jimmy, Jimmy’s gonna do whatever the f**k Jimmy wants to do.”

What players do off the court is their business, especially when they are in the offseason. Butler taking a massive risk with his look is respectable, especially because he has adopted this style during the offseason. Whether he comes into the season with hair like that is something we don’t know, but Butler likely holds onto these extensions for the upcoming season.

Lowry has poked fun at his teammate but their bond is extremely strong, with Lowry previously saying that his friendship with Butler was one of the main reasons he joined the Heat last offseason. The pair are looking to have a big season in 2022-23, hopefully attaining their championship dreams. It’s going to be a challenge, but if the Heat can click on all the right cylinders, the opportunity for them is limitless.
