After burning all bridges on his way out of Brooklyn, star point guard Kyrie Irving has lost a lot of trust within the NBA community.

And while his on-court fit with his new team, the Mavericks, is interesting enough, a lot of fans are worried about how long-term commitment to the franchise.

But on Sunday afternoon, just hours after the trade was leaked, a follow-up report from Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes confirmed that Kyrie is actually feeling really good about his new situation and it could mean he’s serious about making a long-term home with the Mavericks.

Kyrie Irving is said to be “ecstatic” about the trade to Dallas Mavericks and “looking forward” to joining forces with Luka Doncic, a league source tells @NBAonTNT @BleacherReport

Luka Doncic has been on an island in Dallas all season long and increased pressure from both him and the fans have seemingly pushed the front office to make his win-now move.

As far as what we can expect from the Mavs moving forward, only time will tell. But with Dallas now being home to one of the best duos in basketball, their ceiling as a team has been elevated to new heights.

Can The Mavericks Win It All With Luka Doncic And Kyrie Irving?

As an elite scorer, playmaker, and ball handler, Kyrie’s presence gives the Mavericks another shot-creating threat on the perimeter who can take the pressure off of Luka.

It will be interesting to see how the team plays the two together, but Kyrie does have experience playing with another primary ball-handler in LeBron James.

Still, the distractions he brings off the floor can be season-breaking at times.

“I want Irving nowhere near my large adult Slovenian son,” said Nick Wright on a potential Kyrie/Luka pairing. “Kyrie is a brilliant basketball player when he plays, but Luka needs to be doing his own thing on his own team.”

Irving has now essentially destroyed three different basketball teams and you have to understand the fans being hesitant to believe he’ll make it work on another.

But this is the best teammate Luka has ever had and he deserves a chance to play with that type of talent on his team.

Let’s just hope Irving can sit quietly long enough for the Mavs to make a run before it inevitably comes tumbling down.
