After Sunday night’s miraculous comeback win in Portland, the Los Angeles Lakers are just three games within .500 and, amazingly, just two games back from the 6th-place Clippers in the standings.

It’s been that kind of season for the Lakers, who have defied all expectations without Anthony Davis. Last month, he was forced to exit a game after suffering a stress fracture in his foot.

And despite any experts predicting a complete collapse for the Lakers, they’ve managed to survive the past six weeks without him. Fortunately, it seems like they won’t have to endure for much longer.

According to league insider Dave McMenamin, Davis’ return is imminent, and we could see him suit up as soon as this week.

“He’s nearing the six-week mark since he suffered his injury and he is ramping up closer and closer to a return. It’s imminent. It could be as soon as Wednesday against the Spurs. I was told it is more likely he’ll play Saturday against the Boston Celtics, a good time to return. The Milwaukee Bucks had a ‘stay ready’ group and Darvin Ham has brought that to the Lakers and that’s what Anthony Davis has been participating in.”

Davis won’t fix all of the Lakers’ problems, but he will make a massive impact on both ends of the floor for them. Through 25 games this season, AD is averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game on 59% shooting.

What Can We Expect From The Lakers When Anthony Davis Returns?

The Lakers are about to be whole again for the first time all season, and many fans are eager to find out what they will be able to do together. But Davis isn’t back yet, and LeBron will have to play for at least one more game without him.

“I don’t want to get too excited,” said James on AD’s return. “I just want him to take has much time as he needs and when he’s ready and he feels like he’s ready to put on a uniform, I’ll get excited again.”

Davis was at another level before he went down, and if he can pick up where he left off, then things could get really interesting for the Purple and Gold.

In the meantime, the Lakers have a game to win, and all eyes will be set on the task at hand as this team continues its quest to secure a playoff position.
