LiAngelo Ball Says He Deserves A Spot In The NBA: “I Belong In The League”

LiAngelo Ball just finished a terrific participation in the 2021 NBA Summer League. The Ball brother is still trying to find his way to the association after spending a couple of days with the Detroit Pistons last year.

Gelo played for the Charlotte Hornets this year, showing exciting things during his tenure with the team. He went off, playing defense, shooting 3s, and more, earning some good comments from the Hornets coaching staff.

It’s still unclear if he’ll get a spot on the team’s roster for the next season, but Ball is confident he belongs in the NBA, even if he doesn’t get a chance with the Hornets. After his participation in the competition was over, the 22-year-old talked about his experience, making a case for himself.

“I feel like I belong in the league, but I know I can show more than what I did,” LiAngelo told Sports Illustrated’s Roderick Boone following Monday’s 99-74 defeat to the Chicago Bulls.

“I’m not satisfied with how I played this last game, but overall it was all right. I can always get better going forward.”

He posted interesting numbers coming off the bench, averaging 9.6 points, two rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 17.4 minutes. Overall, Gelo enjoyed playing for the Hornets, saying it was a good experience that helped him learn.

“It was a good experience,” LiAngelo said. “I was able to pick up new things and learn new stuff because I have never done summer league before. It was a good experience overall. I was glad to be here.”

Perhaps having his brother LaMelo as the face of the franchise will help LiAngelo’s plans. In recent years, we’ve seen brothers playing together in the league, so this wouldn’t be a surprise.

Still, time will tell if the Hornets pull the trigger on this move and add a second Ball brother to their young roster.
