Michael Jordan is widely considered the greatest basketball player of all time after all the impressive things he did for the Chicago Bulls. His Airness took the league to new heights with his impressive plays and desire to win every single game he played.

Besides that fire to win at any cost, Michael Jordan also wanted to give fans the best show they could get, and he did it. He was a scoring machine that held his own against anybody on the defensive end of the ball, and those who saw him play at the arena or at home were always delighted by MJ’s intensity.

This was one of his best attributes on the court, and if we know all the things he did when he wasn’t playing, it becomes more impressive what MJ did during his legendary career. Magic Johnson saw that firsthand during their stint on the Dream Team, and he was impressed by MJ’s stamina and how easily he could dominate on the court despite being immersed in other activities.

Magic Johnson Was Always Impressed By Michael Jordan’s Durability

During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ show, Magic named Jordan the ‘strongest athlete’ he’s seen in his life. MJ could do so much the night before playing a game and then go out and demolish his rivals like he had a full 8-hour night of sleep, which always stood out with Magic.

Sharpe asked about Johnson’s routine and how it compared to MJ’s wild one.

“He was the strongest, not basketball player, athlete I’ve ever seen. Because he can do just what you said. If I tried to do that, I’d be 0-14, no assists, I’d be dragging, and he tried to get me to do it on the Dream Team. He was like, ‘MJ, MJ.’ I said, ‘what’s up?’ He said, ‘come on, hang with me.’ I said, ‘Mike, I can’t hang ’till 4 o’clock. You have your drinks, get up, play 18 rounds of golf, sleep an hour and the go and get 30 by halftime. I can’t do that. I know who I am.'”

He then explained what he used to do before games, which was completely different from Jordan. Magic had everything prepared to have a quiet trip to the arena and always tried to keep things that way until the game started.

“So my routine was, I got to have my music, I got to have quiet, so I had my house quiet, my car, nobody ride with me. I had to get there 3 to 4 hours before. I had to get there way earlier so I could get ready because I had so much to remember. Our plays, their plays, make sure the guys were in position, and then I would go out and do my thing. And then, I would always get my rest.”

He explained that Jordan’s routine worked for His Airness, and Johnson’s worked for him. They were two superstars with different styles to get ready before matches. They won multiple championships that way and became legends of the game, but their preparation methods were very different.

Just like Dennis Rodman and his wild nights out, Jordan could go have fun and get zero sleep, as he did during the 1992 NBA Finals with Magic Johnson, and then go out there and dominate rivals like it’s nothing.
