A big trade has just happened in the NBA, with Kyrie Irving being traded to the Dallas Mavericks just 2 days after he requested a move away from the Brooklyn Nets. The mercurial point guard wasn’t on the same page as the Nets hierarchy, and it has led to the team moving on from him expeditiously. Dallas has been looking for a second star to pair with Luka Doncic, and they chose Kyrie Irving as their man.

The Dallas Mavericks were mentioned as a suitor for Kyrie Irving, but many didn’t think that this would actually go through. The Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers were all also mentioned, and the thought was that any of them might offer a better deal for Irving than Dallas. In giving up Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and a first-round pick, the Mavericks seem to have pushed through a move, and needless to say, fans of every team have something to say about it.

NBA Fans Had Mixed Reactions To Kyrie Irving Becoming A Dallas Maverick

Kyrie Irving has been fairly dysfunctional during his time with the Boston Celtics and then the Brooklyn Nets. While his on-court production is at an All-NBA level, he is out of contract in the summer, and he is a distraction off the court. But he is also by far the most talented player the Mavericks have managed to get alongside Luka Doncic, and as such, fans had some mixed reactions to the trade.

“The Mavs actually did it! Luka and Kyrie is the best backcourt in the league now no?”

“How have the Lakers fumbled this bro?”

“We gave up too much for Kyrie man, will he even play consistently?”

“How did the Mavericks not get off a single bad contract in this trade?”

“Luka and Kyrie are instantly in the NBA Finals.”

“This offense is going to hang 200 points per game on teams.”

“Bro, I hope Irving comes correct to Dallas, it will be life-changing.”

“Damn, can’t nobody say Luka don’t got no help now.”

“That haul probably means Dallas are confident that they can sign him again as well.”

“My Suns choked this.”

“Dallas is now my favorite in the West.”

“The way Kyrie been playing this year, it’s f**king over man.”

“Luka and Kyrie is like LeBron and Kyrie bro, they winning it all.”

Kyrie Irving has been averaging 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game this season. If the Mavs can keep his off-court antics to a minimum, they will have a legitimate shot at the NBA title. The defense is something for them to figure out, but Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving together are going to be a lethal duo.
