LeBron James is one of the best basketball players of all time, and when he retires he will be a first-ballot Hall of Fame player. He is still having an elite season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 27.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 6.6 APG.

In April, LeBron James declared on Twitter that he wouldn’t miss the playoffs again in his career. Unfortunately, it is looking more and more like he might have to sit at home for the postseason once again, as the Los Angeles Lakers currently have a 13-20 record and are 13th in the Western Conference.

A recent post by the Twitter page NBA Central has recently revealed that LeBron James has deleted that Tweet. A lot of fans reacted to this, with many claiming that LeBron James knows the team isn’t going to make it this year.

There is still a possibility that the Los Angeles Lakers get into the play-in tournament, and eventually make it out to become the 7th or 8th seed in the Western Conference. However, they will need Anthony Davis back from his foot injury for that to happen, and it is unclear when the big man will return. As of right now, the burden to carry the team falls on LeBron James, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can win more games in the next part of the season.

The Los Angeles Lakers Don’t Want To Make Win-Now Trades

The Los Angeles Lakers are a poor team as of right now, and any trade they could make would likely not lift them to being a contender. That is likely why it was recently reported that they do not want to make any “win-now moves” at this moment.

“Reinforcements via trade would obviously help, and the Lakers are still evaluating their options on a dormant trade market. At the same time, it becomes increasingly challenging to justify trading a first-round pick if the group continues to struggle. The front office doesn’t want to compound its previous mistakes with more win-now moves.”

This development is definitely unfortunate for LeBron James, as it is clear the team’s trying to look towards the future. However, the fact that they are “still evaluating their options” means that a trade might still happen before the end of the season.

Hopefully, we do see the Los Angeles Lakers make some sort of move in the future, even if it doesn’t involve giving up first-round picks. Their roster lacks cohesion at this moment, and it is up to the front office to change that.
