Kyrie Irving has been at the end of a substantial bit of criticism over the last few seasons for various reasons. His stint with the Boston Celtics left a sour taste in the mouths of Celtics fans, who showered him with boos in their latest series against the Brooklyn Nets. Irving’s stance on vaccination and the subsequent missed games, combined with his general disdain for the media has only contributed further to the trolling from certain quarters of the NBA fandom.

However, the latest round of roasting on NBA Twitter isn’t even over anything recent, with Kyrie being made fun of for the fact that he was on the cover of 2 NBA games in the past. The cover athlete for NBA 2K18 and NBA Live 14, normally this only contributes to a player’s hype, but with many fans believing that both those games were quite bad, Kyrie is catching some heat for it.

“Kyrie was really the cover of the two worst basketball games of all time.”

“Can’t even get away from the negativeness of Kyrie.”

“Honest to god I’ll never forget how bad 2k18 was.”

“This not even cap these two games were horrible.”

“Was it a sign of things to come for Kyrie?”

“Never put this man on a cover again.”

“Why Kyrie look like Jasper the Dolphin in the second pic?”

“Nah, y’all doing Kyrie dirty with this.”

“2K18 is what made me stop buying 2K it was so trash.”

“This is facts, Kyrie can’t catch a break right now.”

“Aye I cannot deny this at all.”

“Further proves that Kyrie isn’t that guy.”

Even if fans feel that Kyrie deserves criticism from time to time, this is just general banter not based on anything valid. Irving has a lot to do next season to get the love of NBA fans back, but at the end of the day, he is one of the most skilled players in the history of the NBA. With all the endless slander coming his way, Irving will likely come into next season with a chip on his shoulder, which could be quite scary for everyone else in the league.
