Back in 2011, he was almost robbed by somebody who tried to get some easy money on Christmas, but Williams prevented a disaster when he talked them out of doing something they would regret later.
Lou Williams Once Lived Through A Terrible Situation With A Gunman Who Tried To Rob Him
11 years ago, he was approached by this person who tried to steal from him. Fortunately, his good displays on the court and communication skills got Williams out of that, and he even took the person to dinner.
Via ESPN:
“A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community,” the 25-year-old Williams told the Daily News. “He’s a Lou Williams fan, so he didn’t rob me.”
Williams told the paper that he was driving his car when the man began to approach with a gun drawn and then knocked on the driver’s window.
“There’s crime everywhere,” Williams told the Daily News. “I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald’s.”
Fortunately, that was the end of it and Williams wasn’t hurt or anything. That must have been a hard moment, but the player knew how to get out of it. He had a big gesture to this person and ended up having dinner with him.
Right now, LouWill is out of the league after playing for the Atlanta Hawks. He’s been very active on social media, even calling out the NBA for naming the Sixth Man of the Year trophy after John Havlicek and not him or Jamal Crawford, another legendary bench player.
