Basketball players who want to succeed have one goal; make it to the NBA. The NBA houses the best players in the world and is considered the proving ground for the elite stars of the world. Those who want to make it to the NBA try to go through the proving ground of the G-League. But as it happens, the G-League houses the next generation of some of the NBA’s biggest stars.

Currently, the G-League has sons and nephews of some of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. John Stockton’s son David Stockton currently plays for the Memphis Hustle, the G-League division of the Memphis Grizzlies. Whereas Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire is currently playing for the Salt Lake City Stars, the G-League division of the Utah Jazz, the team Dwyane Wade is a minority owner of.

Trey Mourning, son of legendary Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning, currently plays for the Heat’s G-League side Sioux Falls Skyforce. Metta World Peace’s son Ron Artest III plays for the Delaware Blue Coats, the G-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. One of his teammates there is Braxton Key, who is the nephew of former NBA player Ralph Samson.

But it isn’t just the sons of NBA players who are in the G-League right now. The nephew of legendary NBA big Dikembe Mutombo, Mfiondu Kabengele is also playing in the G-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and has even had stints in the NBA with the LA Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Canyon Barry, the nephew of Rick Barry, is currently a player on Iowa Wolves, the G-Leauge affiliate of the Timberwolves

Clearly, these young players are trying to turn their families into basketball powerhouses. These young players, if they are able to find success in the NBA, could help further the legacy of their family names. Their relationship with some great NBA players inspired them to pursue basketball, and now, they are trying to pave their own way into the league.
