Zach LaVine is a very talented player, one who’s been making noise around the league since his early years in the NBA. The shooting guard has shown very good things in Minnesota and Chicago, expanding his game every season.
At the start of his NBA tenure, he was known for being a dunker, becoming one of the most electrifying stars in that facet of the game. A two-time Slam Dunk Contest winner, LaVine was recently inquired about a hypothetical competition between him and four talented dunkers.
During a recent appearance on The Draymond Green show, LaVine discussed a hypothetical slam dunk contest between himself, Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan (4:37).
“I think Vince might take me,” LaVine said, via Heavy. “Vince came with some stuff.”
“It depends on who makes the first dunk,” he said, suggesting he could have a shot at the win.
He also talked about the other players in the imaginary contest, giving flowers to both Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Still, he never hesitated and wrote them off at the expense of Carter and himself.
“Oh wow. A lot of people wouldn’t put Kobe in there, but Kobe was one hell of a dunker,” LaVine said about Kobe.
“I mean, MJ is going to get the biggest fan reaction,” his fellow Bulls expressed on His Airness.
Ultimately, he gave props to Carter, going further and saying he would battle it out with the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets legend to define the winner of the contest.
“Vince is gonna come with the most, I would say, creative,” he argued.
“I think it’s going to be me and Vince in the final, but I think Vince might take me”.
This would have been incredible to watch if every player decided to take part in the competition. Differences of eras make this impossible, but fans still can dream about what would have happened if LaVine, Jordan, Bryant and Carter clashed in a Slam Dunk Contest.
They all want the competition at some point and made flashy dunks during their careers. The more you think about it, the more interesting it gets.
