After Kobe and Gigi Bryant’s untimely passing, Vanessa fought to find a way to honor her fallen husband and daughter. In partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers, that is exactly what she did in founding the Mamba And Mambacita Sports Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a positive impact for underserved athletes and boys and girls in sports. The foundation was founded through the vision and in loving memory of Kobe and Gigi Bryant.

Kobe also had several causes that were near and dear to his heart during his playing career. He was an official ambassador for the After School All-Stars and even wrote nutritional plans that were implemented in Los Angeles area high schools. The Tragic Death Of Kobe Bryant

For 20 years from 1996 through 2016, Kobe Bryant graced the hardwood of the Staples Center as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe reached superstar levels on both an international and domestic level that were only matched by Michael Jordan at the time. After hanging it up as one of the greatest players to ever live, Bryant had his sights focused on his family and a specific passion for coaching girls' basketball.

On January 26, 2020, Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and 7 others boarded a helicopter traveling to one of Gianna’s games which Bryant coached. Shortly after takeoff, the helicopter reached areas of low visibility, and with failure to reach higher levels, the helicopter crashed. Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the 7 other passengers passed away immediately upon impact.

The sports world was shocked, saddened, and frankly stood still at the news of the tragic and untimely death of one of the NBA’s greatest icons. Bryant was just 41 years old at the time of his death and his daughter was only 13 years old. Two of Gianna’s teammates were on board with their families as well as two other guests and the pilot of the helicopter.
