NBA Rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge Getting Closer To Signing With Heat

2 Min Read

After tonight’s loss to the Blazers, the Miami Heat have now lost 5 straight games, dropping to 8th in the Eastern Conference, with a 22-23 record. Amid injuries and a lineup that has been in and out all year, the Heat have struggled to maintain the dominance they had just a season ago.

Fortunately for them, reinforcements may be on the way — and it’s coming in the form of a veteran sharpshooter.

According to Tim Reynolds, the team is getting closer to securing a deal with Spurs star LaMarcus Aldridge after his buyout from the Spurs gets finalized.

Early speculation had Aldridge returning to the Trail Blazers, a place he once called home before eventually leaving to sign with the Spurs. And while Portland may still be in the cards (like other teams), it seems like Heat have become the official frontrunners to land him.

Despite their recent slump, the Heat have a lot going for them, including Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, newcomer Victor Oladipo, brilliant head coach Eric Spoelstra, legendary team President Pat Riley, and a location in one of the East coast’s most luxurious locations.

With all their players active, Aldridge could add a significant punch in the frontcourt as a mid-ranger shooter and rebounder.

If they can stay healthy, this Heat team will be a major threat — and that’s with or without LaMarcus Aldridge.
