NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Could Land Maurice Harkless

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make any additions via trade before the Feb. 6 trade deadline, which led fans to believe they were going to focus on the buyout market. However, contrary to a couple of teams, the Lakers haven’t been the most active team in the buyout market.

This doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t looking for new players, though. As a matter of fact, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that the Lakers are waiting to see what happens with Moe Harkless during an appearance on ESPN LA 710’s “The Sedano Show” on Tuesday. Harkless was traded from the 37-18 LA Clippers to the 17-38 New York Knicks in the Marcus Morris deal earlier this month.

“Moe Harkless is a name I’ve heard they’re interested in and monitoring and still have an eye on,” Amick said.

Marc Berman of the New York Post reported right after the trade was completed that the Knicks would buy him out if he wanted, even though Harkless hadn’t shown any signs of wanting a buyout. The Lakers need size on the wing, and they’re hoping that being a contender convinces Harkless to join them instead of playing for his childhood team.

This season he’s averaging 5.5 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist per game while shooting 50.9% from the field and 35.5% from beyond the arc.
