NBA Scout Not Sold On Miami Heat Finals Run: “They Were Not That Good. Butler Played Out Of His Mind, Herro Played Out Of His Mind, They Were All Kumbaya, But They Were Not Quite That Good.”

The Miami Heat made a Cinderella run to the NBA Finals, only to be beaten by LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. They beat the best regular-season team on their way there, and had Goran Dragic not been injured, they may have given the Lakers more of a competition. Jimmy Butler cemented himself as a star that can bring a team to the Finals. Tyler Herro looked amazing. To many, this was the sign of better things to come.

However, some people are not convinced. The Miami Heat weren’t supposed to get to where they ended up, and many are predicting a slight regression this year, especially with the Brooklyn Nets getting Kevin Durant back from injury. An NBA scout has doubts about the Miami Heat this year. NBA Central reported on the situation.

The Miami Heat definitely overachieved compared to the predictions of many analysts: but they do have some good talent and a superstar. Who is to say that Jimmy Butler cannot repeat his feat? It’s not like the Miami Heat has a poorly constructed roster either. The scout also neglected to mention Bam Adebayo, their second All-Star. While their individual players may not be superstars, they played like a team, and sometimes that is enough.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That was the case with the Miami Heat last year, and if their young players could improve, they could be looking at a great season.
