NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Want Nikola Vucevic And Jerami Grant

The Boston Celtics have two extremely talented young players in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. They were both selected to the All-Star Game, and have a bright future ahead of them. Currently, though the Boston Celtics are in the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, and they do not look like they are on the level of other contenders such as the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. This Boston Celtics roster were supposed to be a championship-caliber team this season, but they have not lived up to the expectations.

One way to change that would be via trade. One of the priorities that the Boston Celtics must look at for their roster is an elite big man, one who can space the floor for their star players. Recently, Shams Charania has reported that the Boston Celtics were looking at Nikola Vucevic and Jerami Grant as trade targets.

Among top trade targets for the Celtics: Detroit’s Jerami Grant, sources said. Grant is having a breakout season, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is a leader for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

The Celtics and Hornets are among teams interested in Magic two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic, sources said. Rival teams expect that any haul for Vucevic would have to be massive. The 7-foot big man is having his best NBA season, averaging 24.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from 3-point range. Vucevic has spent nine of his 10 NBA seasons in Orlando.

Both of those players would be elite additions for a Boston Celtics squad who needs a small push into being a championship contender. A change to the roster via trade could add more star power to the team, which could in turn help the Boston Celtics create another big three in the NBA. Jerami Grant and Nikola Vucevic are both solid defenders on the interior, which could be useful against teams with more size like the Philadelphia 76ers. The Boston Celtics could improve with either player. Nothing concrete has been completed yet, but with GM Danny Ainge at the helm for Boston, anything is possible.
