Jimmy Butler Named Potential “Top Trade Target” For Knicks This Offseason

The New York Knicks could make a shocking move for Jimmy Butler this summer.

Every offseason, the New York Knicks are linked with stars around the league, and this year isn’t an exception. The New Yorkers finished the season on a low note, losing to the Miami Heat in the second round of the playoffs.

The Heat could be the answer to their questions this offseason, as Jimmy Butler might be a potential trade candidate for the Knickerbockers.

“Even with Miami advancing to the Eastern Conference Final, consistency has been an issue in recent years, and the aging roster could use a shake-up,” Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report wrote. “Dealing Butler while he is still in his prime could allow the squad to build around Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro…Swapping in Butler for Barrett (and a bunch of picks and others prospects) would net the Knicks a lockdown defender, tireless worker and high-level shot-creator for himself and his teammates.”

This would be a huge shocker, but anything can happen in the NBA. Still, Butler seems to be very comfortable in South Beach, as the Heat have embraced him no matter what, allowing him to become their leader, and their best player, and so far, that has paid off for them.

The championship is yet to come, but Butler has taken his team to three Eastern Conference Finals appearances in the last four years, including one trip to the Finals in 2020.

Butler has shown that he’s an alpha dog in this league, and after posting 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6 assists per game while shooting 43.2% from the field against the Knicks, he’s ready to dominate the Boston Celtics too.

Jimmy Butler Is Happy Playing For The Miami Heat

When it comes to trades, it’s very hard to see the Heat dealing Butler anytime soon. Perhaps, as Buckley says, team age plays a role in a potential trade, but the Heat can also bring the right talent to build around Butler and keep him happy.

Moreover, another trip to the Finals this year will work wonders for Miami, let alone an NBA championship. With Butler leading the way, Miami will be a threat to the East, and it is hard to imagine him on a different team. It seems like the Knicks will have to look elsewhere to find their star.
