The Portland Trail Blazers could be making more than one big move in the 2023 NBA offseason. Damian Lillard made up his mind and decided to request a trade from the team, picking the Miami Heat as his preferred destination.

Moreover, this imminent trade could start a chain reaction within the organization. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Jerami Grant could be on his way out too since he’s on a different timeline than the Blazers’ young guys.

“Another trade candidate to monitor down the line will be Jerami Grant, who agreed to a five-year, $160 million deal with the Blazers before the team received word that Lillard wanted out of Portland.”

Scotto adds that the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers were interested in Grant ahead of free agency and that interest could reignite now. The deal he agreed to with the Blazers could be a big obstacle to making this trade happen, but some believe Grant earned his money.

The forward doesn’t fit the team’s future plans, and just like they plan to do with Lillard, Grant will most likely start next season with a different team. After spending last season with the Blazers, he couldn’t help the squad make the playoffs, even missing the play-in tournament due to their lack of consistency.

Grant averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 63 games with the Blazers.

Damian Lillard Is On His Way Out Of The Blazers

After several years of failed attempts to succeed, Damian Lillard decided it was time for him to leave the Portland Trail Blazers. The Miami Heat are reportedly his preferred destination, but a deal is yet to be completed between these two.

A third franchise will be needed to make it happen, but it’s hard to tell which organization will help these two complete a trade that will probably change the NBA landscape ahead of next season.
