The Los Angeles Lakers were a team that went 33-49 during the 2021-22 season, and it is clear that they needed to make some changes this offseason to become a competitive team.
The team has fired Frank Vogel and installed Darvin Ham in his place. They have also revamped their roster to become more defense-oriented, notably acquiring guard Patrick Beverley from the Utah Jazz.
However, it seems as though the team is not done yet. A recent report suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers are still in talks about other moves, and perhaps we’ll see something happen prior to the start of the season.
Tony Jones Reveals The Jazz Are Still Engaged in Trade Talks With The Lakers
The Utah Jazz are a team that engaged in a rebuilding process this offseason. They have already moved stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, and it seems as though more moves may be on the horizon.
Utah Jazz insider Tony Jones has recently claimed that the team is having “ongoing talks” with the Los Angeles Lakers. It remains to be seen what players are involved in the trade, though it is likely that the Utah Jazz are looking to move veterans rather than young players.
The Jazz are currently at 17 players, which means the roster will have to be trimmed by at least two by some point before the beginning of the regular season. And the front office isn’t done taking trade calls. League sources indicate a market for Bogdanovic at the very least, of which there is significant interest for the 6-foot-8 shooting forward. But, the Jazz at this point don’t appear to be particularly close to a trade that could land them even more assets and consolidate the roster, although there are ongoing talks with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Shams Charania previously revealed that Bojan Bogdanovic is a player that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in, so perhaps he could be included in a potential deal between the two franchises. However, the Lakers will have competition if they want to trade for the forward, as it was recently revealed that the Toronto Raptors and the New Orleans Pelicans are also targeting Bogdanovic.
Hopefully, we will see the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Lakers come together on a move in the future. They clearly have mutual interest in making something happen, and perhaps we’ll see the two teams agree on a move that benefits both sides at some point before the start of the season.
