In a battle at Chase Center on Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns battled it out in an intense showdown. Since it was Kevin Durant’s first visit to San Francisco this season, the game was guaranteed to be hot, and the emotions ran even hotter since both teams had identical records coming into the game.

The two teams were going back and forth all night long, with the Warriors dominating the first quarter and the Suns dominating the second quarter. After that, the game was close the rest of the way until Jonathan Kuminga and Dennis Schroder got hot down the stretch and the Warriors made out with a narrow 4-point win at home (109-105).

On X, social media was blazing with reactions from fans and critics who had a lot of things to say. Starting with the Warriors, a sense of panic has been building after their recent rough patch but they pulled through with a quality win tonight to settle the nerves and ease some of the fan concerns.

“Warriors chant in Chase while we are struggling the last 15 games, we are back,” posted one Warriors fan after the win.

Jonathan Kuminga had another standout game for Golden State with 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists off the bench. He was getting a lot of praise online and many advocated for him to get a permanent place in the starting lineup.

“Kuminga is so good man. I love him so much,” wrote a Warriors fan on X. “Turned up when it mattered the most.”

As usual, Stephen Curry delivered on his superstar duties with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists on 9-22 shooting. He did everything he could to lead the Warriors to victory and while he struggled with the three tonight, he made a couple of really nice shots today and the fans could hardly believe his incredible scoring ability.

“You are watching the Curry era,” wrote one fan in response to a viral play. “No matter what they say.”

The Suns poured everything to build this roster and assemble the big three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker. Sadly, it hasn’t gotten the expected results and tonight’s loss brought the critics out in full force.

“This was a game the Suns just needed to close out and win,” wrote a dejected Suns fan. “They had it in their control. If they can’t win that, there’s not many games they can win.”

Kevin Durant (31 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists) and Bradley Beal (28 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists) looked good tonight for the Suns but their role players let them down again in what has been a consistent problem for them this season.

“Suns center rotation must be worst in NBA history,” posted a fan on the Suns’ frontcourt.

Kevin Durant was looking to get revenge on his former team tonight but, in the end, it’s the Warriors who came out victorious and staved off extending their ugly losing streak.

For both teams, it’s fair to say that they count as underachievers given their talent level and expectations going into the season. But for the Warriors in particular, this was particularly important in helping them get their season trending back in the right direction.

To lose to a Suns team at home with no Devin Booker would have been tragic for the Warriors but the right guys stepped up when needed and made a difference in multiple facets of the game. Now, they can focus on their next assignment.

After today’s win, the Warriors play again on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home (10:00 PM EST). On January 2nd, the Warriors face off against the Philadelphia 76ers at 10:00 PM EST at Chase Center. Finally, the Warriors will continue their homestand on Saturday, December 4th, against the Memphis Grizzlies at 8:30 PM EST.
