Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Malik Beasley is now facing more accusations of wrongdoing, but they aren’t from the FBI this time around. The mother of Beasley’s estranged wife, Montana Yao, has made some explosive allegations against him on TikTok.
Yao’s mother used the viral “Netflix documentary” trend in which a person sits on a chair in front of the camera before sharing their dramatic tale. While she didn’t speak in the video posted on an account named JaggerEdge, the accusations were written on top for all to see.

Yao, a model, confirmed in the comments that this is indeed her mother. We are only getting one side of the story here, but this isn’t a good look for Beasley. It will be interesting to see whether the 29-year-old responds to this.
Beasley and Yao had met back in 2018 and welcomed their first daughter, Makai, in March 2019. They then got married on March 5, 2020, but were at odds with each other by the end of the year. In November, pictures surfaced online of Beasley holding hands with Larsa Pippen, which prompted Yao to file for divorce in December. She was “blindsided” by them and was understandably hurt.
Beasley and Pippen’s romance was short-lived, though, as they went their separate ways just a few months later. He and Yao then got back together and welcomed their second daughter, Mia, in November 2022.
Yao used to be a regular at Beasley’s games, and from the outside, it appeared all was well. Just a day before their fifth wedding anniversary in 2025, though, she filed for divorce in Los Angeles. Yao cited “irreconcilable differences” and sought spousal support.
Beasley then filed for divorce in Wayne County Circuit Court in Michigan. He also started dating influencer Natalia Garibotto at the time.
It was a few months after all of this happened that Beasley landed himself in trouble with the authorities. It was reported in June 2025 that he was under investigation by the U.S. District Attorney’s office for alleged involvement in gambling activity related to NBA games and player prop bets.
The Detroit Pistons were planning on re-signing Beasley to a three-year, $42 million deal at the time, but unsurprisingly put that on hold. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was also sued by his former barber, dentist, landlord, and sports agency not long after. Talk about a messy situation.
In August, Beasley’s attorneys claimed he was no longer the target of the investigation. It looked like he was on his way back to the NBA, but it was then revealed he had not been fully cleared. The authorities had simply adjusted their view of Beasley’s role in the probe.
After being investigated for over a year, Beasley was indicted on sports gambling charges by federal prosecutors. He faces charges of sports bribery, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
It is said that Beasley manipulated his performances in four games during the 2023-24 season when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. His associates allegedly bet tens of thousands of dollars on his prop bets and cashed in.
Beasley, whom the Denver Nuggets had selected with the No. 19 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, pleaded not guilty to those charges and was released on bond. He maintains his innocence, but it seems unlikely he’ll play in the NBA again.
Beasley’s last season in the NBA was arguably his best. He averaged 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game for the Pistons in 2024-25, and finished runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year. It was all going well on the court, but that might prove to be the last time we saw him in the league.
