LeBron James is Bronny James‘ father, but during the Los Angeles Lakers‘ 107-96 win over the Phoenix Suns, he treated him like any other rookie on the team. As James approached the bench to sit, he made Bronny get up and give up his seat for him, forcing the young Lakers player to the floor, where he had to sit for much of the game.

LeBron isn’t the first Lakers star to give Bronny the rookie treatment this season. Prior to being traded, Anthony Davis did the same to the second-round pick early in the campaign. Clearly, despite being the son of LeBron James, Bronny isn’t getting any preferential treatment from the Lakers, which is exactly how he wants it.

However, while this treatment is very much par for the course for rookies in the NBA, when it comes from veterans, the former USC star isn’t going to be disrespected by fans in the arena. During the game, one heckler at the Crypto.com Arena tried going at Bronny James, only for the young star to brutally respond to him.

The rookie didn’t get minutes tonight, as the team got some players back from the injury reserve, like Luka Doncic and Jaxson Hayes. However, Bronny did play in the Lakers’ previous game against the Denver Nuggets, even making a big three-pointer over reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.

James has steadily improved during the season, especially as he has gotten more reps to play on the Lakers’ G-League team. He spoke recently about his development and the improvement he has seen behind the scenes while playing for the Lakers. Clearly, Bronny is finding his way in the NBA, even if it is taking a little longer than people hoped.

Bronny Unfazed By Stephen A.’s Comments

Over the last few weeks, Bronny James’ name has been in the headlines quite often. A little over a week ago, LeBron James confronted Stephen A. Smith during the Lakers’ win over the Knicks, and the ESPN analyst confirmed that James was confronting him over his plea to LeBron to stop Bronny from playing in the NBA because it wasn’t a good look.

A lot has been said since then about the matter. Colin Cowherd recently claimed that LeBron tends to get upset whenever someone says something negative about his son in the media. Stephen A. Smith made a real stink in the media about the confrontation, especially in terms of how James chose to carry himself in the interaction.

However, a fan-made compilation of Stephen A. Smith inviting players to confront him at games when they have an issue with him proved that he was a hypocrite and milked the interaction for everything it was worth over the last few weeks. But it isn’t just Smith who called out James for the situation. Even Dwyane Wade said that LeBron put a target on Bronny’s back.

Through all the noise and the media conjecture, Bronny James has kept his head down, focused on his game, and put his best foot forward. This shows a level of maturity and savvy most NBA rookies are incapable of showing.
