Anthony Edwards doesn’t care about his opponents’ size, ability, or their age. During a recent basketball camp he organized, Edwards played 1-on-1 against some children who were participating in the program. Rather than give them a chance and go easy on them, Edwards proceeded to ruthlessly dunk on the kids.

Edwards was clearly having fun with the kids, and giving the attendees a show. But it is really funny to think that Edwards wouldn’t show mercy to the kids he was playing 1-on-1 against. Perhaps he was still in the same mindset he had during the Olympics or the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

Perhaps these dunks, albeit against young children, might give Edwards some confidence ahead of the new NBA season tipping off next month. Edwards and the Timberwolves are hoping to improve on their performance from last season, and perhaps reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Edwards, now entering his fifth NBA season, has firmly cemented himself as the face of the Timberwolves franchise. Last season, he helped the Minnesota Timberwolves secure the third seed in the Eastern Conference and then took his game, and the team’s game to another level in the playoffs.

Edwards played a major role in the Timberwolves’ sweep of the Phoenix Suns in the first round. Then, the Timberwolves upset the reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets in seven games to reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2004.

While the Timberwolves couldn’t overcome the Mavericks, Edwards showed out and had an incredible run in the playoffs. He topped this off with an Olympic gold medal win this summer with Team USA. So Edwards is coming into the new season with a lot of momentum.

Can Edwards Become The Face Of The NBA?

Anthony Edwards is perhaps the best young player in the NBA today. With the old faces of the league wrapping up their careers, the NBA is in search of their next face of the league. Edwards is a great candidate for that position, as he is young, charismatic, and an incredible player who can entice fans to watch him.

Ant has found success in the league so far as an All-Star and All-NBA caliber player. On top of that, he is part of a Timberwolves team that is doing very well. Playing alongside fellow All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, Edwards has taken his game to another level over the last few years.

While there have been rumors about their relationship souring, Towns recently shut down the speculation, claiming how much he admires and values Edwards as a teammate and a friend, and how he continues to support him in his career and the progress he makes.

Don’t be surprised if Edwards is an MVP contender next season. With his level of play improving, and the Timberwolves becoming a perennial top contender in the West, Edwards could become the first American MVP in seven years next season.
